The 5 Days Uganda Primates and Wildlife Safari is an exciting safari that will take you to Kibale forest national park which is also known as the primate capital and Queen Elizabeth national park. During the 5-day Kibale forest and Queen Elizabeth safari, you will get an opportunity to spend time with the chimpanzees in their natural environment and also spot different animals like buffaloes, lions, leopards, elephants, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, hippos, nile crocodiles among others, during the game drive and boat cruise on the Kazinga channel.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale forest national park

Depending on your location on the first day of the 5 Days Uganda Safari, you will be welcomed by our driver guide from either your hotel in Entebbe or Entebbe international airport to start the journey to Kibale forest national park. On the way, you will enjoy stunning views of the scenery, landscape, Rwenzori peaks, and tea plantation and a stopover for en-route lunch. After lunch, you will continue to Kibale forest national park and upon arrival, you will connect to your lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk

After an early breakfast on the second day of the 5 Days Uganda Primates and Wildlife Safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kanyachu visitors Centre for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will be subdivided into groups of 6 people, where each group will be allocated a habituated chimpanzee family to trek and an experienced park guide. Trekking of chimpanzees in Kibale forest national park takes about 30 minutes to 5 hours, depending on where the chimpanzees are located, because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking you will be able to view other primate species, mammals, and bird species among others and once the chimpanzees are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in the habitat, which gives you an opportunity to watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, playing, breastfeeding, resting, and hunting, and to take photos and record videos.

After the one hour with the chimpanzees, you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for lunch, whereafter you will go for an interesting nature walk in Bigodi wetland, where you will be able to spot different primates and bird species, among others. After the Bigodi swamp walk, you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

On the third day of the 5 Days Uganda Primates and Wildlife Safari, you will have breakfast at leisure, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park which takes about 2-3 driving hours. Upon arrival, you will connect to your lodge for lunch, whereafter you will go for an afternoon game drive in the park, where you will be able to spot animals like waterbucks, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, lions, leopards, elephants, and warthogs, among others. After the game drive, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Morning game drive/lion tracking and afternoon boat cruise

After an early breakfast on the fourth day of the 5 Days Uganda Primates and Wildlife Safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive in Kasenyi plains where you will be able to view lions, leopards, hyenas, buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, bushbucks, and warthogs, among others. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will go for a scheduled boat cruise on Kazinga channel a water channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. During the boat cruise, which starts at around 2:00, you will be able to view hippos in water, Nile crocodiles basking on the banks, buffaloes, elephants and antelopes drinking water along the shores, and water birds, among others. After the boat cruise, you will drive back to the lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Departure to Entebbe

On the last day of the 5-day Kibale forest and Queen Elizabeth safari, you will have breakfast at leisure, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kampala. On the way, you will have a stopover for an en-route lunch and another stopover at the Equator, where you will take photos and buy souvenirs. From the Equator, you will continue to Kampala arriving early evening and upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop you off at any place of advice.
